At age 17, too young to enlist in the American armed forces, Don joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served his country during World War II. Capt. Blinn's career included flying for KLM, Seaboard, and Flying Tigers. For a time, he was chairman of the pilots' union group at Seaboard, working to improve pay, benefits, working conditions, and safety. Don is survived by his wife Sara (Sally) Tufts Blinn; two step-daughters, Nancy Enloe and her husband Steve, their children, Lucas and Eliza; and Mary Tomasiewicz and her husband, Steve and their children, Margaret, Stephen, and Emily. Don is also survived by his son Donald George Blinn, his sister Betty Parsons, and his brother Richard Blinn. He was pre-deceased by his son, William "Billy" Blinn and his brother Herbert Blinn.
Don is seen here with Sally at the 2010 Seaboard reunion in Charleston, S.C.
