Capt. "Jock" Johnson was born in Hartford, Connecticut of Swedish heritage. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II in the United Kingdom. He served as pilot at Seaboard World Airlines. He retired in California where he was active in the San Diego Lions Club and the Southwestern Yacht Club. He spent his last years on St. Simons Island, Bluffton, and Savannah, Georgia.
Jock was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Carolyn J. Johnson. He is survived by his son, Stuart Johnson (Michelle) of Birmingham, Alabama; his daughter, Dana Johnson (Scott Pace) of Alexandria, Virginia; his foster son, Om Prakash Gupta (Jyoti) of Dayton, Maryland; his sister, Sylvia J. Hammer of Naugatuck, Connecticut; a granddaughter, and grandchildren.
