Capt. George Koch was born in Richmond Hill, NY, and grew up in the Woodside neighborhood of Queens, NY. He graduated from the University of Maryland and served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Coast Guard. He retired from the Coast Guard with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
George joined Seaboard in 1968 and rose to B-747 captain at Flying Tigers.
George died in Jacksonville, FL. He is survived by his wife, Grace; daughters Denise (Paul) and Kristin; sons Rick (Karen) and George, Jr. (Imelda); 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
