Mack Murphree flew as a flight engineer (F/E) at Seaboard and as a DC-8 and B747 first officer at Flying Tigers until age 60. He then flew again as a F/E until he retired from FedEx at age 65.
Mack built and flew home-built airplanes for many years. He was killed flight-testing someone else's home-built airplane. He is survived by Hilde, a son and a daughter.
