"Sam" Samuelson served in the U.S. armed forces during World War II. He became an aviation cadet late in the war but the war ended before he completed training to be a pilot. He reenlisted in November 1945 and flew 139 combat missions as a flight engineer on C-46s during the Korean War. His airline career spanned service at Seaboard, Flying Tigers, and FedEx. His wife, Moira of sixty years, predeceased him in 2012 .
Sam is survived by his son, Brian, a United Airlines captain.
