Fred Edsel Thorp

Fred Thorp was born in Cohocton, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he was designated by the Civil Aeronautics Authority as a qualified inspector of aircraft. He worked for TWA before joining Seaboard in 1959. He flew as a flight engineer through the merger with Flying Tigers and finished his career at FedEx. He also owned and operated the Kabuki Japanese Steak House in Danbury for 27 years.

Fred is survived by his wife, Tokiko Okamoto Thorpe; and by his sons Jeffrey and James and his wife, Susan.
