Capt. Phil Tomasky was born in Mayfield, Pa. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps when he was 17 years old. He was later accepted into flight training and served in the United States Air force as a pilot, flying C-119 "Flying Boxcars" and C-124 "Globemasters." Phil was hired by Seaboard in 1958 but took other flying jobs during numerous furloughs in the early years. They included flying around Africa for the United Nations and flying light aircraft in Laos and Vietnam for Air America. He finished his airline career as a Boeing 747 captain at Flying Tigers.
Phil is survived by his wife, Maria, of Southport, Conn.; and daughters Letitia Frye of Scottsdale, Az., Jessica Brann of Florida Gardens, Fla., and Althea Tomasky of Southport, Conn. He is seen here in a Flying Tigers uniform in front of a Boeing 747.
