Capt. Bill Eastwood died at home in Sedona, Ariz. while taking a nap on August 10, 2016. He was 96 years old. He was cremated without fanfare, and there will be no memorial service, in accordance with his wishes. His memorial page will not be complete for about another week, as his family is currently preoccupied with more pressing matters. This is a preliminary version. Joe Dinunzi, who was a line foreman in JFK maintenance, died in Germany on Apr. 15, 2012. He and his wife Marge worked for
Seaboard for most of its existence. Andy Flood, who worked with him, wrote, "Joe was always a perfect gentleman and in all
the years we worked together I never knew him to lose his temper, regardless of the difficulties and frustrations of running
a maintenance operation.

Walter Bernhold died on Aug. 31,2011 under the care of VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach, FL with his wife Freddy & daughter, Catherine at his side. There will be no funeral. A private celebration of Walter's life will be held by the immediate family sometime in October. There will be an obituary posted in the Press Journal of Vero Beach on Sunday, Aug 4th. He will be cremated and half of his ashes will go to his wife and the other half will go to his daughter. They then plan to take a cruise together and disperse the ashes in the ocean, Walter's wish.

Joe Sanchez
Joe Sanchez, who worked in maintenance, died Dec. 22, 2008. He was 72 years old. After serving in the Marines during the Korean War, he had a 40-year career in aircraft maintenance starting at Seaboard in 1961 and finishing at FedEx 40 years later. Among his surviving family members are his wife Gloria, son Joseph W. Sanchez and wife, Josefina, son Christopher M. Sanchez, his brother Salvador Sanchez, his sister Sylvia Sanchez, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His son Joseph wrote, "He always had stories happy and sad about the job and was always the background of our lives. He loved you guys."

Notice about a Flying Tigers pilot some of you might have known.
I very saddened to tell you that our good friend George Miller died unexpectedly yesterday while hiking with his wife and
brother here near Anchorage. He had celebrated his 61st birthday on Tuesday, August 24, 2010, which was also one year from his date of retirement.
The memorial service will be Monday, August 30 at 4PM. The service will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 12310 Lorraine Street, Anchorage.

Mack Murphree
About 0630 on the morning of August 22nd, Mack took off from North Las Vegas Airport aboard a Velocity 173 RG he was test flying.
Authorities said the pilot had difficulty gaining altitude and radioed the control tower that he was going down. The aircraft
crashed into a house causing an intense fire. Mack was 76 years old.

Charlie suffered a heart attack and died on Nov. 30, 2005 at his home in Boise, ID. He was 85 years old.

Ladislaus J. "Larry" Talcik died on September 23, 2004 at his home in Hamden, Ct. He was 86 years old. Larry served in the US Army Air Corps during WWll. He was a navigator at Seaboard, and later, a Systems Analyst. He is survived by his companion Suzanne Carroll Parker.
Will Lancer died on July 29, 2004, at home in Long Beach, California. He was 81 years old. He is survived by his wife Valerie, 3 sons, and 6 grandchildren.

His wife, Lou Winna Langley, was with him at his death and still lives in Greenacres, FL. He is also survived by sons Larry and David,
daughter Cathy Sutton, two nephews, and a niece. Ralph was 89 years old.
He lived a long and happy life, and enjoyed his years at Seaboard. He was widely respected by former colleagues at Seaboard, by his friends,
by his fellow congregants at Levittown Baptist Church on Long Island, at Lake Osborne Presbyterian Church, FL, and by his neighbors.

James "Jay" Jennings died on August 13, 2003. His health had been failing for some time, and he died from heart failure at the Valley Hospital, Ridgewood, NJ. Jay turned 78 this July.
Charlotte Leach Bilotta, age 77, died in her sleep on April 16, 2003. She leaves behind her husband John Sr., three sons - John Jr.,
Jeffrey Scott Bilotta of the Bay area in California and Timothy Kent Bilotta of Jacksonville; FL.; a daughter Rebecca Ann Bitter of Sacramento,
California; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Gloria Mitchell, Ed Mitchell's wife, died on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at approximately 8 am.
She died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Rotunda, Florida.

Walter T. "Jorgy" Jorgensen died on approximately Aug. 31, 2002, in a hospital in Brazil. Jorgy was number one on the Flight Engineers' seniority list.
Margaret Razzano, wife of William Razzano died on Sept. 18.
Jacklyn Brockington, wife of Henry Brockington, died on August 13, 2002.
Capt. Ralph Neary died unexpectedly July 17, 2002 at the age of 81. He had been diagnosed with prostate cancer almost a year ago, had just received radiation and was looking forward to physical therapy. An embolus caused cardiac arrest.
Ralph was with Seaboard for thirty years during which time he was Chief Pilot and Director of Flight Operations. He and his wife Gloria (Heines) and two daughters moved to Hancock, NH in 1970. He retired in 1980 and enjoyed keeping in contact with SWA friends with like interests by ham radio. Gloria was a stewardess with SWA from 1951 - 1955 and flew on both the east and west coasts.
Joe Weider died on July 1, 2002. He was one of the early Seaboard navigators, hired in 1948. He retired from Flying Tigers in 1983. Joe had been ill with cancer for two years and was 78 years old.

Capt. Bob Henry died on February 10, 2002, just 5 days shy of his 80th birthday, at his home in Lancaster, PA.
Flight Engineer Ray Gray died on Jan. 8, 2002 after a long illness. He was 74 years old.
Gerry Jacobs, wife of Capt. Art Jacobs, died on Jan. 7, 2002. She was 72 years old.
Capt. Stan LeBedis died on Nov. 30, 2001 in his sleep at home in Westport Ct. He was 70 years old. He was hired at Seaboard World in 1965. He flew as captain at Seaboard, Tiger and FedEx. He retired in 1995 as a 747 second officer.
He began flying with the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1951 and went on to fly for Trans Canada Airways (TCA), the precursor to Air Canada. He also flew as an engineering test pilot at Canadair, where he flew an early vertical takeoff tilt-wing aircraft, the CL-86.
He leaves his wife, Margaret and three grown children.
Capt. Rowland Roderick died on Nov. 10, 2001 in Danbury, CT, after a long battle with an aneurysm. He was 82 years old.
